Nüshu belonged to the women of Jiangyong County in southern China’s Hunan province, who kept it from the 13th century until the 20th and used it mostly for their local dialect, Xiangnan Tuhua. Each sign stands for a syllable or a word, the columns are vertical and read from left to right, and the script has lately come back into use.
Liu Zhao of LiuZhao Studio drew this Noto version on a calligraphic skeleton, kept it compact, and left out stroke contrast. It was meant for text at medium sizes and for headlines, and the 5 weights, Light to Bold, cover both. 470 characters, from the Nushu and Basic Latin blocks.
A museum label or a book on the script’s history would suit it, with the Regular for the text and the Bold over it.
