Carved in stone, typed in code
This family started with a chisel: NovaCut, Wojciech Kalinowski’s alphabet for stone inscriptions, which for years had capitals and digits and nothing more. Digitizing it in 2010 meant inventing a lowercase, and the leftover variants from that work grew into 6 fonts named for their shapes, Cut, Flat, Oval, Round, Slim and Square.
Nova Mono came last, the 7th, with every character on the same width.
It is a single Regular with Greek alongside the Latin and no OpenType extras at all. Use it where the history shows, a title card or a game menu, more than in a code editor you stare at for 8 hours.
