Liangshan market day notes

820 signs. In the 1970s the Chinese government picked that many symbols out of the traditional Yi scripts of the Liangshan region and fixed them as a syllabary, and Nuosu SIL is a font for that standard form.

The older Yi writing had been around for centuries, with a huge number of local variants, and it still belongs to a large ethnic group in southwestern China. The standard brought some order. SIL International built this font to cover it in 1 Unicode file, with Latin beside it, and the credit goes to Peter Constable, Alex Kotlar and Peter Martin; the copyright runs back to 1999.

There is 1 Regular, with no OpenType features to switch on. Schoolbooks and web pages in Nuosu are the obvious home.
