Palanquin comes in 2 halves. The text family has 7 weights for reading; Palanquin Dark takes the same design into heavier territory for display, with 4 weights from Regular to Bold.
Pria Ravichandran, a type designer from India, drew the Devanagari and the Latin side by side. The Latin is a sans serif and the Devanagari is monolinear, its strokes kept at an even thickness to match, so a Hindi line and an English line look like 1 family when they share a poster.
Use Dark where the regular Palanquin would look thin: a big title in Devanagari, a price on a box, the name in an app header. Fractions and a stylistic set are included.
