Jovanny Lemonad shipped the first version of Philosopher with errors in it, on purpose. His thinking at the time was that a flawed font would push designers to open it up and work on it, and stop passively using whatever they were given. Later he decided to fix the mistakes himself.
He started it in 2008, taking cues from Agfa Rotis and ITC Binary, and meant it for logos and headlines, and for text as well. By June 2011 it was a 4-style family, Regular, Italic, Bold and Bold Italic, and that September the Latin and Cyrillic were fully hinted.
Would we set a novel in it? Probably not; the shapes have too much personality for that. For a logo or a magazine heading in Russian and English, it has the range, and the Vietnamese accents are there as well.
