Travis Tran started Pitagon Sans Mono from coding monos people already know, JetBrains Mono, Roboto Mono and Noto Sans Mono are all named in its README, and then pushed those models through the rules of the Pi Design System that the whole Pitagon set serves.

Those rules show in small places. Outer bends of a stroke are softened while joints keep a hard angle. The README argues that simpler shapes look crisper at small sizes.

Its vertical metrics were chosen to sit near those of common system fonts, measured out on a base unit of 4.

16 styles from Thin to ExtraBold, each with an italic, and 1,377 characters. Unlike the text member of the family it carries Greek and Cyrillic, and the OpenType side has a slashed zero, 4 stylistic sets, fractions and real superscripts and subscripts. Version 1.1.1 dates from August 2023.

We would run the Light weight in a dark terminal and Regular or Medium in printed code samples, where the rounded corners stop looking soft and start looking tidy.
