Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Every lowercase key in Playfair Display SC gives a small capital, tall and wide beside the full caps. This is the small cap sibling of Playfair Display, whose own files also carry a full set of small caps.
The background is the same as for Playfair Display: a transitional face by Claus Eggers Sørensen in Amsterdam, with Baskerville and the Scotch Romans of the late 1700s as its reference points and no 1 model copied. Released 2011, revised hard in 2017, and since 2023 succeeded by the variable Playfair with text sizes on its optical size axis.
This display version comes in Regular, Bold and Black, each with an italic, with Cyrillic and Vietnamese in its 657 characters.
Those hairlines want size. On an invitation or the section heads of a magazine it looks expensive. Underneath, for the running text, the project’s notes name Georgia or Gelasio.
