Pontano Sans started out as a light, minimal sans by Vernon Adams, built to be used freely by web browsers on desktop and mobile, and it joined Google Fonts in March 2012. In February 2023 it became variable, running from Light to Bold, with better rendering and wider language support along the way.
Adams meant it mainly as a display face that could also handle text. With 5 weights to choose from, we would set Regular or Medium for paragraphs and keep Light for large headings, where its thin, plain strokes look best.
