The money for Unbounded came out of a blockchain treasury. Polkadot’s on-chain fund paid for it, which its makers believe makes it the first font anywhere to be funded on chain, and the work was shared between the design studios Studio Koto and NaN, with Parity Technologies and the Web3 Foundation behind the Polkadot side.

This is a broad display sans, and a line of it runs some 35% wider than the same words in Arial, so headlines get short and loud fast. 8 weights, from Extra Light to Black, all meant for display.

Latin and Cyrillic are both covered, and the glyph set reaches hundreds of languages. There are 4 stylistic sets and a set of symbols, plus what the designers call a figure building system for numbers, which a fintech dashboard or a token launch page would put to work. Tabular figures keep columns of prices lined up.

We would not set a paragraph in it. A 3 word hero line in Black over a dark background is the natural use, and the lighter weights are better for a subhead than for reading.
