Port Lligat Slab is the Sans with slabs bolted on. Tipo designed the 2 to match exactly in weight and width, the first steps of a planned super family in which every style would line up with the others, and the Slab differs only in its heavy slab serifs and rounded terminals.
What it keeps from the Sans is a condensed structure, vertical stress and a slight softness in the strokes. Tipo talked about its groovy rhythm, and the word fits, especially at small sizes where the slabs make it read like an easygoing serif. It runs noticeably narrower than Georgia.
Dario Muhafara and Eduardo Rodriguez Tunni are the designers. There is 1 style, Latin only, and it’s meant for headlines and short text, though it reads comfortably enough on screen. A record shop flyer would suit it.
