Pablo Impallari drew this sans to sit next to the serif Quattrocento, and that pairing is the first reason to download it. Headlines in one, text in the other, and the 2 share a temperament.

Its letterforms are wide and open, which the designer counts on for small body text, and he also put in fine details that only show once you set it large. Igino Marini and Brenda Gallo are named alongside him in the font’s copyright.

What do you get? Regular, Italic, Bold and Bold Italic, a sensible 4. The italic keeps about the same width as the roman, so switching into it mid-sentence does not shorten a line. The character set is lean at 242 characters, covering Latin with some extended accents, and the OpenType list stops at fractions, ordinals, superscripts and ligatures.

For a blog or a small catalog we’d happily run it as the text face, with Quattrocento on the headings.
