A Page In Ramsina

Ramsina · Regular

Headings, labels and running text.

Notes From The Reading Room

The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.

A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Readings for the feast day

Metal type cut in India around 1920 is the model, and SIL meant Ramsina as a close revival of it, near enough to call a facsimile. The script is East Syriac.

The lineage has layers. The original fonts were Sparksoft Systems’ Marcus and Nohadra; SIL took them on, borrowed its Latin from the Crimson Pro project, and published Ramsina in 2025. Google Fonts added it in January 2026.

There are 6 stylistic sets and contextual alternates in the single Regular, 410 characters in all.

The Latin comes out small beside the Syriac. In a page that mixes English with Syriac quotations, scale the Latin up, or hand the English to Crimson Pro itself so the 2 still match.
