The jazz quartet plays tonight
Robert Berény, the Hungarian artist, lettered a run of deco posters for Modiano in nothing but capitals. Those letters were the spark for Righteous. Astigmatic rebuilt them on a grid with geometric construction in 2011, and then did what the posters never did, gave the alphabet a full lowercase so it can set more than a slogan.
It reads clearly across a range of sizes. Still, it has 1 Regular style, 369 characters and no OpenType features, so think of it for a cocktail bar sign or a jazz record sleeve and leave the paragraphs alone.
