Turn on the stylistic alternates in Rowan and the b, d, h, k and l lose their top serifs, leaving flared stems in their place. It is a small switch, and a clue to how much care went into a face that Inga Plönnigs, a Berlin designer trained in the Type and Media program at KABK in The Hague, built for long, absorbed reading. The serifs and stroke endings are chunky enough to hold up at very small sizes.
Figures default to old style, with lining ones on request, and the punctuation rises to meet the capitals in all caps setting.
5 weights from Light to Bold, each with an italic, make up the family, and the Regular is the one offered here. Footnotes and pocket paperbacks are the sizes it was drawn for.
