Ruwudu means “writing” in Manga. SIL International made the family for a particular corner of the Arabic script world: the West African languages that write it in the Rubutun Kano style.
So the coverage is deliberate. It has the characters those languages are known to use, and SIL says plainly that other Arabic script languages may find something missing. Within that range the font does a lot of quiet work, with smart routines that adjust the shape and position of letters automatically, and 6 stylistic sets on top.
Becca Hirsbrunner Spalinger is credited as its designer. 4 weights, Regular to Bold.
We picture it in a reading primer or a local newsletter, with the Bold for headings.
