Owen Earl set out to make a Bodoni with no compromises for the digital age, and the full Bodoni Moda project runs to 64 font files once the italics and optical sizes are counted. This SC family is the small caps version of it.
Why a separate family? Our guess is convenience: in an app that hides OpenType features, picking a font from the menu is the easy way to get small caps. Here you get 12 styles, Regular to Black, each with an italic.
The italics are narrower than the romans, about 8% across a line of text, which keeps an italic phrase in a heading from spreading out. Old style and lining figures are both in there, along with tabular figures and 3 stylistic sets.
Bodoni is high-contrast by nature, and we would keep this one at heading sizes, on a magazine nameplate or the title page of a book.
