Sedgwick Ave Display · Regular
A short letter, set in the family.
Thursday afternoon
Dear Alex,
I left the book by the window. There is a note on page twenty-three that I thought you would like. Bring it along on Thursday; we can finish the conversation over coffee.
See you there.

Block party, Saturday 8pm
On 11 August 1973 DJ Kool Herc played a back-to-school party for his sister at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue, an apartment building in the Bronx, and that night is usually given as hip hop’s birthday. On the 44th anniversary Google ran an interactive Doodle for it. These fonts had gone live 10 days earlier, on 1 August 2017.
Pedro Vergani and Kevin Burke, both at Google, drew a pair of graffiti handwriting fonts and named them for the street. This Display cut is the one for large sizes, headlines and posters, while plain Sedgwick Ave takes over in text. Burke is an animator and designer on the Google Doodle team in London, and Marc Foley is listed as a contributor.
1 Regular, with a big lowercase and Vietnamese support. Set it large, let it sprawl.
