Wait, you were there too?
FONTDASU drew Shippori Antique for the speech balloons of Japanese manga, and B1 is its weathered twin.
It is assembled from 3 sources. The kana are antique, in the Ming style, built on Shippori Mincho with thick strokes. The kanji were made by reworking Genseki Gothic, and the Latin is an old-fashioned sans.
This B1 version adds rounded corners and ink pooling, small dark gatherings in the corners as if the letters had been printed with ink. The plain version is called Shippori Antique, without the B1.
The file is large, 15,367 characters, with 3 stylistic sets and alternates. It went onto Google Fonts in April 2021. We would reach for B1 when the art itself has a printed, slightly worn feel, and use the standard cut for crisp digital comics.
