Jason Kottke drew Silkscreen in 1999 for type in small web graphics, a pixel face meant to render cleanly at tiny sizes. Blown up, the same squares turn into chunky retro-computing lettering that holds up at poster size too.
It has had a long life since. The Google Fonts description lists Flickr, Herman Miller, Volvo and Adobe among the companies that used it, and it turned up in The Bourne Legacy. Not bad for a font made for small web graphics.
2 weights, Regular and Bold. The letters are wide, so a word in Silkscreen eats horizontal space. Put it on a badge, a status bar, a game menu, or a big poster title where the blockiness is the point.
