Suvarnabhumi, golden land, is a Sanskrit and Pali name from old Indian and Buddhist texts for a place across the sea, often put somewhere in Southeast Asia. Suwannaphum takes its name from it.
Danh Hong made it as a Khmer font for body text, meant to sit well next to a Latin serif, and Google Fonts listed it in March 2011 on the same day as his Angkor. The family has since grown to 5 weights, Thin, Light, Regular, Bold and Black.
That range is useful: Bold for headings and Regular for paragraphs, with the lighter weights for large display lines. Khmer clusters stack subscript consonants under the main letter, so give the text generous line spacing.
