Hymns for the evening office
Triodion reproduces the type most often used in liturgical books from St. Petersburg and Moscow around the turn of the 20th century, a style the Publishing House of the Moscow Patriarchate still prints with.
The font has passed through a few hands. Vlad Dorosh made the first version, Triodion Ucs, in 2003 for the Irmologion project, and it later shipped in the CSLTeX package for typesetting Slavonic in LaTeX. Aleksandr Andreev then re-encoded it for Unicode as part of the Slavonic Computing Initiative and prepared it for Google Fonts, which credits him and added it in December 2024.
Church Slavonic is its first language, Cyrillic its script. There is a Latin set as well, and a stylistic set with alternate forms, 527 characters in 1 weight.
Use it for liturgical texts or the cover of a prayer book. For modern Russian prose it will look churchly, which may be exactly what you want or exactly what you do not.
