Shalom, welcome to class 3B
Varela came first, with square corners, and 2 weeks later in July 2011 Joe Prince of Admix Designs added this rounded cousin. Soften the corners of a plain sans and it reads gentler at any size, which is the whole idea here.
The Hebrew was a later addition. Avraham Cornfeld, an Israeli type designer from the AlefAlefAlef group, drew Hebrew letters to go with Prince’s Latin, and he now leads the project. The current files cover Hebrew, Latin with its extended accents and Vietnamese, so a bilingual Hebrew and English site can run on 1 font.
Only a Regular exists, no bold. Headings get their emphasis from size alone. Tabular figures and fractions are there for prices and timetables.
