Wix, the website builder, commissioned its own typeface from Dalton Maag and split it in 2. Wix Madefor Display takes the headlines, with tighter spacing, rounds that are close to circles and angular curves on the f, j and t. Wix Madefor Text, this half, is the quieter one, tuned for interface labels and paragraphs on a screen.

The italics are where it gets interesting. The skeleton of the family is geometric, and you might expect a sloped copy of it, yet Dalton Maag gave the italics shapes taken from cursive handwriting. Switch to italic and several letters soften into something written. Wix wanted the family to range from functional to more playful, and the italic is how it gets there. Those italics cover Latin; Cyrillic and Vietnamese are set in upright only.

It went onto Google Fonts in January 2023 and the source lives on Wix’s GitHub.

The weights run from Regular to Extra Bold, each with its italic. On a settings page or a help center the Regular and Medium do the bulk of the work, and the Bold handles buttons.
