Footnotes in very small print
Small sizes were the brief for Adamina, and the decisions all follow from that. Alexei Vanyashin raised the x-height, lowered the contrast, and kept the proportions compact and transitional. Then come the finer touches: serifs that are not the same on both sides, and strokes that flare on 1 side only.
Vanyashin had set up Cyreal after graduating from the British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow in 2010, and Adamina reached Google Fonts in September 2011. Cyreal is also behind Lora, Prata and Alice. He went on to specialize in Cyrillic, serving as Cyrillic Script Chair at the Granshan Foundation from 2016 to 2024, and later worked on YouTube Sans and with Dalton Maag, Optimo and Swiss Typefaces.
There is 1 Regular style, Latin only. Footnotes, captions and the small print under a product would use it well.
