Notes From The Reading Room

The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.

A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

BioRhyme is very wide. A line of it wants about a fifth more room than Georgia would take, and a headline that fits in most serifs will wrap in this one, so plan the layout around the width before anything else. Aoife Mooney drew it, and it reached Google Fonts in June 2016.

At first there were 2 separate families, a normal width and an expanded one. In September 2023 they were merged into a single variable family with a width axis and a weight axis running ExtraLight to ExtraBold. The 7 static weights offered here cover that same span, with no italics.

Tucked into the OpenType panel are swashes and 8 stylistic sets, more play than you would guess from the plain uprights.

Large sizes, then. On a poster or a book jacket the width has room to do something, and in a narrow column it mostly makes awkward line breaks.
