Even the hash sign and the @ in Boska are drawn in hairlines, so that the symbols stay quiet and the letters keep the reader’s attention. Boska is a high-contrast serif in the Didone line, and small decisions like that add up across it.
Barbara Bigosinska, a Polish designer who studied in the Type and Media program at the KABK and lives in the Netherlands, built it from 2 sources: the straight-axis types of the 19th century and the swelling strokes of pointed-pen calligraphy. The capitals in particular run narrow. The Indian Type Foundry put it on Fontshare in April 2021.
For a display face it is unusually well equipped. Small caps, 13 f-ligatures, and old style figures by default with lining ones as an option, tabular too.
The full family has 6 weights with italics; this page has the Regular. Bigosinska aimed it at editorial headlines, signs and exhibition graphics, and we would add magazine features at 18 px and up, opening with a line of small caps.
