A Note On The Page
Briem Hand · Regular
A short letter, set in the family.
Thursday afternoon
Dear Alex,
I left the book by the window. There is a note on page twenty-three that I thought you would like. Bring it along on Thursday; we can finish the conversation over coffee.
See you there.

Chancery cursive, the italic hand of 16th century scribes, sits underneath Briem Hand. Gunnlaugur SE Briem first worked it up as Briem Script in 1992, and later expanded it with Eben Sorkin into a family that comes with and without writing guides and joins, across weights from Thin to Black. Google Fonts added it in March 2024.
The capitals are short against the lowercase, so a word in mixed case keeps a low, even line.
These are the 9 static weights, with contextual alternates and tabular figures inside. This build is trimmed to basic Latin and the Western European accents, while the full project reaches 429 Latin-script languages, Vietnamese and Pinyin among them.
A worksheet for a handwriting lesson could take its headings from the Bold and its model lines from the Light.
