Glowing dots on an old monitor
From across the room, a word in Coral Pixels looks like ordinary black text gone a little soft. Lean in and it breaks apart into a random scatter of colored dots. Tanukizamurai took the idea from subpixel rendering on screens and applied it to the retro pixel style seen in games and digital art.
The color is built into the font, in COLRv0 and CPAL tables. The dots are partly transparent so they do not leave ugly fringes around the letters, which works nicely on light backgrounds. On dark ones the colors lose their punch, and the designer suggests inverting the colors in your app as a stopgap.
1 Regular style. Use it for a game title screen or a stream overlay, big enough that the dots can be seen.
