Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Eczar changes personality as it gets heavier. The Regular is a working text serif; by Extra Bold the shapes have become theatrical, and Vaibhav Singh designed it that way on purpose, with the display qualities growing stronger at every step up. The 5 weights, Regular to Extra Bold, slide from reading type toward headline type.
Singh began it in 2010 and 2011 as a student at the University of Reading, in the typeface design MA, and Rosetta released it. The goal was a Latin and Devanagari pair with real vigor, offered as an alternative to the existing designs for multi-script setting, with plenty of personality and still good performance in text. Greek is covered as well.
The OpenType kit is generous, with 6 stylistic sets and tabular figures in it. My suggestion: Regular or Medium for body copy in either script, and save Extra Bold for a magazine cover line where its swagger has room.
