Grandmother's recipe for plum jam

The terminals curl. In Gabriela the ends of strokes turn over into small hooks, and those hooks reach toward the next letter, so a word holds together as a shape and a block of text gets a fine, even texture.

Eduardo Tunni drew it for Latin and Cyrillic. Small, it reads comfortably; large, the curls give the eye something to stop on. In 2015 he took the design into Devanagari, where it became a separate family called Kurale, and in 2023 Gabriela itself was updated with more Latin languages, proper fractions and a bigger glyph set, 566 in all.

1 Regular only, and that is the catch. With no italic or bold you will need a partner face for emphasis, so it suits a cookbook or a short essay better than a manual.
