An evening of chamber music
The transitions are the thing to watch in Gilda Display. Where a thick stroke thins into a hairline, it does so slowly and smoothly, and Eduardo Tunni spent his care on exactly those curves, strokes and serifs.
Tunni was born in Buenos Aires in 1963, studied graphic design at the University of Buenos Aires and later taught there for 10 years in the type design master’s program. He co-founded the foundry Tipo and has drawn custom multilingual fonts for magazines, newspapers, universities and companies. Gilda has the classic proportions you would expect from someone with that background.
He pitched it at fashion, jewelry and luxury goods, and it does look at home on a perfume box or a boutique sign. It is mostly a headline face. Still, Tunni drew it carefully enough that a few paragraphs give an even, fine texture, so an editorial intro under a Gilda headline can stay in Gilda.
1 style. Since a January 2023 update the glyph set is complete, with wider language support across Latin. It first came to Google Fonts in October 2012.
