Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Tea and sweets after the rain
Old-fashioned and cute is how Satsuyako sums up Hina Mincho, 2 words you do not often see attached to a Mincho. The kanji take in both JIS level 1 and level 2, with hiragana and katakana beside them, and the Latin follows Google’s Latin Plus set, with Cyrillic and Vietnamese thrown in.
There is a single Regular, close to 8,000 glyphs. The Latin runs narrow with a small lowercase. We would put it on a picture book cover or a café menu, places where a little old-world charm helps, and leave long reading to plainer faces. Slashed zero and old style figures are in the OpenType set if you need them.
