Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Iosevka Etoile puts slab serifs on letters that are allowed to differ in width. Everything else on the slab side of Iosevka is monospaced and meant for code. Etoile, with its sans partner Aile, is the part of the family that leaves the grid, and the package list sums it up in 3 words, quasi-proportional, slab-serif.
Belleve Invis, the name Renzhi Li publishes under, builds the whole family from code, and Etoile keeps some habits from its monospaced relatives. There is 1 width only. There is no ligature package. And the italic is as wide as the upright, to the letter: set a sentence in each and they end at the same point.
For a text face, the OpenType side is well stocked:
- old style figures as well as lining ones, the first thing we would switch on for body copy
- fractions and a slashed zero
- discretionary ligatures
- 19 stylistic sets shared with the rest of Iosevka
18 styles, Thin to Black, each with its italic, and 7,758 characters covering Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Armenian and Vietnamese. This is version 34.9.0.
Where does it fit? A printed manual or a thesis with code listings, with Etoile setting the argument and Iosevka proper the code, so both share a skeleton. Each hinted TTF weighs around 12 MB, so subset it before putting it on a website.
