Carolina Trebol is a graphic designer first, and Marvel began as type for her own projects, a way to give them more personality than an off-the-shelf face would. She wanted it to look sharp, even a little technical.

It came out narrow. A sentence in Marvel takes noticeably less width than in Arial, which makes it handy for a headline that has to fit a column, and she meant it for running text in books, magazines and websites too. Is that wise? In a short sidebar, yes. For a long article we would keep it to headings, because the character set is small, under 200 glyphs per style and basic Latin only, with no OpenType extras.

There are 4 styles, Regular and Bold with an italic for each. The files go back to 2011, and the original FontForge sources have since been rebuilt with current tools.
