Start each word with a capital if the text allows it. In Mrs Saint Delafield the lowercase is tiny, its small letters under a third as tall as the capitals, and a phrase of lowercase alone shrinks into a thin thread along the baseline while the capitals swing high above.
The style was first shown in Higgins Ink catalogs. Charles Bluemlein, working in the decades when New York kept about 200 professional hand letterers busy, collected people’s signatures and grew complete alphabets out of them. The results looked like none of the signers, so each script got a made-up name, this lady included.
Alejandro Paul and Sudtipos redrew the collection for digital use and kept Bluemlein’s invented names. 1 Regular, with Latin Extended. Set a name on a place card in it, around 36 pt or bigger, and let it be the only flourish on the card.
