Inscriptions from the northern oases
Between the 8th century BCE and the 4th century CE, people in northern and central Arabia and the south of Syria wrote in a cluster of related abjads now grouped as Old North Arabian. They were probably used for Old Arabic and for languages such as Dadanitic and Taymanitic, and they survive mostly as inscriptions.
This Noto font gives them 37 glyphs, covering 36 characters of the Unicode block, in an even, unmodulated sans. Latin and its extended accents come in the same file for the commentary around the quotations. Google added it in November 2020; the sources live in the notofonts repository on GitHub.
Epigraphers and museum staff are the people who will open it. 1 Regular weight, so headings will need size or a second font.
