Second of the 4 Saira widths, counting from Normal toward Extra Condensed, the Semi Condensed has the same 9 weights as its siblings. The design is Hector Gatti’s, the development work came from the Omnibus-Type team, and the idea was that the right width and weight can be found for almost any typographic job. The Semi Condensed joined Google Fonts in December 2016.
The squeeze here is mild. A nav bar or a table header wins back some width, and nothing looks pinched.
9 weights, Thin 100 to Black 900, no italics. Stylistic alternates, a slashed zero and case sensitive forms are in, along with Vietnamese. For a sports or tech headline we would go to Bold or Extra Bold, and keep Thin and Extra Light for very large sizes.
