Andada came first. Carolina Giovagnoli, a type designer in Argentina, drew it as a Latin text face with organic slab serifs and medium contrast, a hybrid of styles, and it won an award at the 2010 Ibero-American Design Biennial, a show that traveled through Spain, Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Uruguay, Bolivia, Colombia and Venezuela.
Sura is the Devanagari she built on top of it, published by Huerta Tipográfica. The Latin follows Andada, so a Hindi text and its English passages share the same sturdy, slab-footed voice.
2 weights, Regular and Bold. That covers text and headings in a book or a report, and the Andada roots suggest where it is happiest, in long reading on paper.
