Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

ก, ถ, ภ, ฤ and ฦ are close relatives in Trirong, and so are ฎ and ฏ. Cadson Demak point this out themselves, warning that in very short texts, a label or a lone word on a button, they can be mistaken for each other. Inside a paragraph the context sorts them out.
The name means “tricolor flag”, the flag of Thailand. Trirong pairs a looped Thai with a transitional serif Latin, both with a clear swing between thick and thin, and the Thai is narrow and tall in the way traditional Thai types were, finished with an oval loop at the terminals. It gets more onto a line without turning hard to read.
18 styles. Every weight from Thin at 100 up to Black at 900 has its italic, and Vietnamese is covered along with Latin and Thai.
The foundry is candid about the heavy end. Formal looped Thai has delicate details, and drawing it toward Black puts them at risk, along with the sizes and positions of vowels and tone marks that the texture of a page depends on. They describe the way they handled thick and thin in the Thai as something other Thai designers could use as a reference.
Our view: it belongs in formal settings, a university prospectus or an annual report printed in Thai and English. Keep the Black for display sizes, where those details have room.
