Summer nights on the rooftop
Vibes was AbdElmomen Kadhim’s first typeface. He made it in spring 2019 during the online Arabic type design course run by ArabicType, the studio of Nadine Chahine, and he credits her help for getting the work started at all. It went into Google’s library that same spring.
The Arabic is the primary script, with a Latin drawn to go with it, and the brief Kadhim set himself was energy and cuteness for title text. The samples in his repository set Arabic vernacular poetry beside English lines, which is a fair hint at how to use it: short lines, in 2 languages, at poster size.
