Brownies in the teachers' lounge
Kimberly Geswein made this font during a dark stretch of her life, and it came out bright anyway. She took the handwriting of a high school student, kept its bouncy, upbeat letters, and borrowed the title from the song “Lift Me Up” by The Afters. For her it stands for the joy that comes after mourning.
Since 2006 Geswein has turned out more than 350 fonts as KG Fonts, around 20 of which sit on Google Fonts, Indie Flower and Shadows Into Light included. Teaching runs in her family, she taught photography and theater herself, and the KG Fonts are free for classroom use.
The font itself is plain: 1 Regular, basic Latin, no OpenType tricks. A worksheet title or a bake sale sign suits it.
