Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Rosetta called Yrsa a deliberate experiment in remixing. Anna Giedryś and David Březina took existing typefaces as their starting point and rebuilt them into a new pair: the Latin of Yrsa began with Eben Sorkin’s Merriweather, and the Gujarati of its sister family Rasa began with Březina’s own Skolar Gujarati.
What came out is a text face for continuous reading on the web, the long article in an online newspaper or magazine. The team spent particular care on Central and East European languages and on getting their accents to sit and shape properly, and the whole set reaches more than 92 languages. Vietnamese is included.
Rasa is the version to reach for if you need Gujarati or Kachchi. It contains the complete Latin too, but there the Latin may be adjusted to suit the Gujarati, so for Latin-only work Yrsa is the cleaner choice.
- 10 styles, Light to Bold, every weight with its italic, and the italics run noticeably narrower than the romans.
Contextual alternates, fractions, a slashed zero and tabular figures come with it as well. Our suggestion would be Regular at a generous size and line spacing; the small letters are modest in height, and a body size a step up from the usual default would make the most of it.
